by NFPL

THE ALL-NFPL Second TEAM HAS BEEN SELECTED!

NFPL officials and managers came together to put together the 2023/24 NFPL Reserve Team of the Season.

GOALKEEPER: Jean Caro

Jean Caro held it down between the goalposts for Colorado Futsal Academy this season, the defining piece of a league-leading defense that let in just 33 goals over the course of the entire season. Caro wasn't just dominant in goal - he smashed in an absolute banger on his way to winning the Southwest Semifinal Player of the Week Award, adding to his season tally of 2 goals and 1 assist in the regular season.

Ala: Cole Russell

Over the course of the season, Cole Russell was probably the best, most consistent outfield player for Futsal Factory Academy on a team that surpassed expectations and overcame a nasty 0-3 start to the season to make a playoff appearance. He won the MW18 Player of the Week Award for a big game, big player performance in a must-win match against crosstown rivals to secure a playoff spot, adding to a total of 16 points in the regular season. The 11 goals and 5 assists landed him 5th in the league for total points scored this season.

ALA: Isai Rivas

If you've watched Isai Rivas, you know that he's one of the best player in the league. Although his numbers may be down compared to last season (just 3 goals, 2 assists for Santa Fe Gloom), he passes the eye test for players, coaches, and fans. Rivas's eye-catching displays won him the MW9 Player of the Week Award and secured a spot on the December 2023 Team of the Month.

ALA: Cesar Martinez

Grand Rapids OLé were spoiled this season, with several players making the All-NFPL First Team - it's a testament to their quality that a player as talented as Cesar Martinez had such a great season and only made the All-NFPL Reserves. Martinez was awarded the MW8 Player of the Week for a match-winning hat-trick to grab a big win over divisional rivals Futsal Factory Academy. He finished the season with in 3rd-place with 17 total points, grabbing 7 goals and 10 assists over 9 matches.

PIVO: Kaue Martins

El Capitan and the big man up top for BRUSA FC this season was Kaue Martins and he leads the line for the All-NFPL Reserves. Having won the Southwest last season, the 2023/24 performance for BRUSA was certainly below their lofty standards. Nonetheless, Martins grabbed the MW6 Player of the Week Award, was added to the January 2024 Team of the Month, and scored 8 goals over the course of the season, proving to be a consistent scorer and a handful for defenders in the Southwest division.

6TH: Elio Luna

Elio Luna burst onto the NFPL scene mid-season, playing his first match for New Mexico Flagship FC in early April. In just 6 matches this season, Luna scored 8 goals and added 3 assists, picking up the MW13 Player of the Week Award and joining the March 2024 Team of the Month on the way.

MANAGER: Odias Valenzuela

From missing out on the playoffs last season to an NFPL Championship spot this season, Odias Valenzuela's Colorado Futsal Academy made a huge step up this season. They proved themselves more than worthy of a spot at the top in an epic Championship Match that could have gone either way and we're looking forward to seeing how the team continues to improve next season.

CONGRATULATIONS!

A big congratulations to the members of the All-NFPL Second Team! NFPL fans were treated to some incredible skills, great goals, and amazing performances from these players over the course of the season.
