The All-NFPL First Team has been selected!

NFPL officials and managers came together to put together the 2023/24 NFPL Team of the Season. Let's take a quick dive into the players and stats that make up this devastating lineup - could you imagine if they all hit the court together?

Goalkeeper: Robert Damron

Winner of the 2023/24 Golden Glove, goalkeeper Robert Damron led a remarkable turnaround for Futsal Factory Academy as a rock at the back and as a team captain. Starting the season 0-3, they were able to right the ship and go on a 6-game winning streak.

Futsal Factory Academy won 2 must-win games towards the end of the regular season, guaranteeing a playoff berth before narrowly falling to the eventual champions. In that 6-game stretch, Futsal Factory Academy outscored their opponents 56 to 25 while Damron earned his spot on the March 2024 NFPL Team of the Month.

Fixo: Sammy Esquivel

Mr. Consistent for Grand Rapids OLé, fixo Sammy Esquivel earned his way into All-NFPL First Team, recording 6 goals and 6 assists over the course of the season. He added two of those assists in the Championship Match to help OLé win the trophy, winning the NFPL Silver Ball in the process to add to his MW1 Player of the Week Award and December Team of the Month award.

Ala: Gabe Villagomez

To put it simply, Gabe Villagomez put together one of the best seasons in NFPL history. The Grand Rapids OLé ala overtook last seasons' Golden Boot winner Igor Bych by 2 points as he racked up a total of 31 over the course of the regular season and playoffs - 22 goals and 9 assists. The winner of this year's Golden Boot and Golden Ball, Villagomez led the way for OLé's Championship season.

ALA: Costa Wells

Constantino Wells enjoyed a massive NFPL debut season for Detroit Imperial Futsal as one part of a lethal trio that almost pushed Detroit Imperial Futsal to a playoff berth. Wells was second on his team in total points and tied for most goals with 12, adding 5 assists. Highlighting his season were two big games against Cadence SFC, scoring 4 goals in each game and winning the MW5 Player of the Week award in the process.

Pivo: Beckan Ovalles

Leading scorer for the winner of the Southwest Division was Beckan Ovalles with 19 points over the regular season and playoffs for Colorado Futsal Academy. Scoring in 8 out of 10 matches this season, Ovalles's goals were frequently featured in Goal of the Month competitions and his overall play earned his spot on the March 2024 Team of the Month.

6th: Diego Galan

Rounding off the First Team All-NFPL is Diego Galan, ala for Colorado Futsal Academy. Galan was second for the season in total points for Colorado, putting up 8 goals and 4 assists in the regular season to help push Colorado into the playoffs.

Manager: Fabian Rodriguez

Winning the most games by a landslide, it should come as no surprise that Grand Rapids OLé manager Fabian Rodriguez wins Manager of the Year. From losing in the final last year to winning it this year, Fabian's team showed up stronger, faster, and deadlier in every category despite losing some key pieces from last year's team. OLé took first place in the Midwest in Matchweek 1 and never gave it up, taking full advantage of a home court playoff game in the semifinals before a brilliant come from behind victory in an epic Championship Match.

CONGRATULATIONS!

A big congratulations to the members of the All-NFPL First Team! NFPL fans were treated to some incredible skills, great goals, and amazing performances from these players over the course of the season.
