January 2024 Team of the Month

by NFPL

After a busy December, the league leaders have begun to separate themselves through some big performances in both conferences. Let's take a look at who's leading the line from January 2024.

January 2024 KINGS OF THE COURT

GOALKEEPER: Frankie Mendoza

Grand Rapids OLé has started the season off in dominant fashion, picking up 12 points out of an available 12 and leading the league in goal differential with +10. Frankie Mendoza between the goalposts has been a big factor behind the strong start to the season, picking up 2 assists in January to go along with 2 wins over Cadence SFC and Futsal Factory Academy.

FIXO: Edrick Padilla

Despite a sluggish start to the season for Cadence SFC, fixo Edrick Padilla has been in scintillating form, scoring 7 goals in 3 games in January, including a 5-goal haul in their match against the division leaders Grand Rapids OLé.

ALA: Davide Di Poce

Led by Davide Di Poce at ala, Detroit Imperial Futsal have started the season brightly and took 4 points in January to put them solidly in second place in the Midwest. Team captain Davide Di Poce sits in 2nd place on the leaderboard with 9 goals and 2 assists this season in just 3 games.

ALA: Gabe Villagomez

One of the first names on the team sheet for Grand Rapids OLé has to be Gabe Villagomez. A big month for the OLé ala has earned him the MW7 Player of the Week award for 7 goals on the road at Cadence SFC, and he contributed another 2 at home in a big game against Futsal Factory in Matchweek 8.

PIVO: Kaue Martins

Leading the line for BRUSA FC is pivo Kaue Martins. A big season-opening win at home against in-form Santa Fe Gloom was propelled by Kaue's 2 goals and MW6 Player of the Week performance.

6TH: Francis Guzman

Francis Guzman has been a mainstay in the Santa Fe Gloom side that started the season so hotly. Guzman's 2 big goals on the road helped secure a win over New Mexico Flagship, and he added one assist per game in The Gloom's two other January roadtrips.

MANAGER: Fabian Rodriguez

No stranger to winning Manager of the Month, Fabian Rodriguez of Grand Rapids OLé takes the award for the first time this season and the 4th time of his NFPL career. His team continues to set the standard in the Midwest with a high press that generates chances, a free-scoring offense, and a set of players with gritty, determined attitudes that aren't afraid of challenges or deficits.
