NFPL Men's Team of the Month - December 2022

by NFPL

With a busy January 2023 in the books, let's take a look at some of the players in the NFPL Men's Division that dominated the competition.

Kings of the Court

Goalkeeper: Bojan Pejovic

Bojan Pejovic has been a massive presence on the court for FC Tryzub this season, allowing just 3 goals in over the team's first two games. FC Tryzub are tied with Grand Rapids OLé for least goals allowed, although OLé have played one fewer game. Pejovic caught the eye in a big Matchweek 3 win on the road against Columbus Futsal, keeping the home side shut out and shut down until letting in two penalties late in the game and propelling FC Tryzub to a 2-0 start to the season.

Fixo: Bennett Kouame

Last season's Golden Ball winner has not slowed down in any way, putting in two dominating performances in Matchweek 1 and Matchweek 2 for Joy Athletic against Futsal Indy. Kouame has racked up 8 goals and 4 assists in those two games, putting him firmly at the top of the Men's leaderboard in overall points and pushing Joy Athletic to the top of the standings in the Western Conference.

Ala: Cole Russell

Putting in a Man of the Match performance on the road against Futsal Factory Academy in Matchweek 2 was Cole Russell, The Grand Rapids OLé left-footed ala. Two goals and an assist in a tightly-fought 5-3 victory is enough to place him in the December Team of the Month.

ALA: Philip Caputo

Another Joy Athletic star makes our team of the month, with Philip Caputo pulling in 4 goals and 1 assist in a Man of the Match win over Futsal Indy in Matchweek 1, earning himself an NFPL Player of the Week award while he was at it. Although we're still in the beginning stages of the season, Joy Athletic lead the league in goals by a massive margin.

Pivo: Bohdan Ruchka

Bohdan Ruchka has led the line for FC Tryzub this season, helping his team with 3 goals in each game, taking 3 points in both road wins against Cadence SFC in Matchweek 1 and Columbus Futsal in Matchweek 2. Elite movement and clinical finishing has been the hallmark of his play this season, picking up Man of the Match honors in each game and an NFPL Player of the Week award in Matchweek 1.

6th Man: Thomas Dono

League-leading Futsal Factory Academy have spread around the goals in their games this season, but Thomas Dono has impressed in both games, gathering 3 goals and 2 assists en route to a Matchweek 2 Player of the Week award

Manager: Denis Reveachin

In their return to the NFPL, FC Tryzub have two wins from two games on the road, with the league's best defense and a high-powered offense that silenced Columbus Futsal in Ohio. Reveachin's team are in second place in the Western Conference to Joy Athletic only due to goal differential, with a mouthwatering Matchweek 5 fixture between the two scheduled to take place in Chicago.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to our December 2022 Kings of the Court, and best of luck to all of the players and managers in the upcoming games.
