NFPL Matchweek 4 Preview

Matchweek 4 of the National Futsal Premier League brings us four big matches as the season well and truly starts to heat up, with futsal action all across the midwest. 

FUTSAL FACTORY ACADEMY (H) VS. JOY ATHLETIC (A)

Futsal Factory Academy having rebranded from Ann Arbor Mudpuppies this season, are technically the defending champions of the NFPL having won the league in 2019, the last time the NFPL played due to COVID-19. 

However, history didn't help them in their first match of the season against Joy Athletic in Minnesota as they fell to an eager, youthful Joy side 6-1. The Michigan-based futsal club will be looking for revenge in Joy Athletic's first game of a weekend double-header. Joy Athletic will be seeking to bounce back from a loss in Matchweek 2 to Grand Rapids OLé.

Grand Rapids OLé (H) VS. Columbus Futsal (A)

High-flying Grand Rapids OLé are having a great start to the season, scoring 20 goals in two wins against Ginga FS and Joy Athletic. 

Columbus Futsal suffered a season-opening defeat last week in Indianapolis against Futsal Indy and will be looking to get their first win of the season on the road in Grand Rapids.

Key matchup: Columbus pivo and MW3 Player of the Week Yul Illidge vs. Grand Rapids OLé goalkeeper and MW2 Player of the Week Miguel Cervantes.

GINGA FS (H) VS. FUTSAL INDY (A)

Cincinnati-based Ginga FS took all three points when they traveled to Futsal Indy in an intense Matchweek 1 battle. 

Futsal Indy have an opportunity to even out the season matchup, while Ginga FS will be looking to avoid dropping their second home game in a row. 

Will we get another Goal of the Month contender in the reverse fixture? Remains to be seen.
