by NFPL

Matchweek 3 of the National Futsal Premier League is in the books! Featuring a Saturday night double header, we had movement at the top and the bottom of the table as Grand Rapids Olé took down Ginga FS in Cincinnati by a score of 10-2 while Futsal Indy defeated Columbus Futsal 5-4.

The NFPL table, as it stands:

GINGA FS 2-10 GRAND RAPIDS OLé

In a top-of-the-table clash Grand Rapids OLé left no room for questions as they defeated Ginga FS in Cincinnati 10-2. From the first whistle, it was all Grand Rapids as they began aggressively, dominating in both possession and chances.

Two early goals from #8 Cole Russell gave OLé an early lead. #9 Adrian Diaz and #13 Jonathan Stout followed up with one goal each to give the Grand Rapids futsal club a four-goal cushion. Within the same minute of the fourth goal, Ginga pulled one back and then scored once more a few minutes later to go into halftime trailing 4-2.

Once the second half began, it was one-way traffic for OLé. Stout added a second goal to his tally, followed by another goal from #4 Daniel Diaz. The Diaz twins would finish off Ginga FS by scoring two more from Adrian, another from Daniel, and one final goal from Adrian to give him four goals on the night!

futsal indy 5-4 columbus futsal

Columbus Futsal traveled to Indianapolis striving to open their season with a win. Futsal Indy aimed to bounce back after an opening-day defeat at home to Ginga FS.

The game started brightly for Futsal Indy as they went 2-0 up early with an unassisted goal by #8 Joao Cuoto and #10 Denis Sehic (assisted by #11 Luis Oliveira Dudu). The two teams continued to battle and at halftime Futsal Indy led 4-1.

Three goals from Player of the Week #33 Yul Illidge (making his NFPL debut) helped bring Columbus Futsal back into the game to make the score 5-3. With a few minutes left in the second half, Columbus flew the keeper and went with five attackers, turning up the pressure. They controlled much of the game and scored a goal to make for an intense, nervy finish.

However, Futsal Indy would hold out an take all three points at home with the 5-4 victory.
