NFPL Matchweek 12 Preview
The National Futsal Premier League returns to the court and we get all 7 teams in action on top of a Saturday night triple-header! Should be an amazing weekend of futsal here, keep reading for all the details.
Futsal Factory Academy (H) VS. GRAND RAPIDS OLÉ (A)
The Michigan Derby Pt. II
The first fixture was back in Matchweek 5 in front of a sold-out crowd in Grand Rapids in a game in which OLé ran away with a 9-5 victory. OLé continue to push teams aside, regardless of whether they're at home or on the road. Despite a tough 8-1 loss in Matchwek 11 at the hands of Futsal Indy, Futsal Factory Academy will be looking to wound the OLé regular season title challenge.
Columbus Futsal (H) vs. Futsal Indy (A)
After a difficult two losses on the road, Columbus Futsal will be looking to bounce back in front of the home crowd as they take on the visiting Futsal Indy. These two teams met in the early weeks of the season back in January. Matchweek 3 provided a feisty, tightly-contest affair in which Futsal Indy held off a late comeback attempt and sustained pressure from Columbus to take all 3 points.
Joy Athletic (H) VS. Cadence SFC (A)
Despite being newcomers to the NFPL, Joy Athletic are undoubtedly one of the best and hottest teams in the league right now. Riding a league-best 7-game win streak, the young Minnesota futsal club have defied expectations with big wins on the road, late winners home and away, and a ruthless streak against weaker opposition. Cadence SFC are coming off their first win of the season in Matchweek 11 and will be looking for revenge for their narrow 6-7 Matchweek 9 loss against Joy Athletic.
GRAND RAPIDS OLÉ (H) VS. GINGA FS (A)
Can anybody stop Grand Rapids OLé? That is the question at this point in the season. They're kept honest by a chasing Joy Athletic and Futsal Factory Academy, but their destiny and home court advantage in the playoffs are well and truly in their hands.
They host Ginga FS who will be fresh off a bye week. The last time the two futsal teams met was very early on in the season in a Matchweek 3 game that ended in a 10-2 victory to OLé in Cincinnati. A potent Grand Rapids attack allowed them to run away with the game, with goals from Cole Russell, Jonathan Stout, and 4 goals from Adrian Diaz.
If Ginga FS are to redeem themselves, they'll have to be solid defensively and lethal in front of goal, an incredibly difficult task against the league's best defense and most effective offense.
Cadence SFC (H) VS. Futsal Indy (A)
In our final game of the weekend, Cadence SFC host Futsal Indy in what will be each team's second match of the weekend. This will be their first meeting this season and both teams are coming off much-needed victories in Matchweek 11 over Columbus Futsal and Futsal Factory Academy, respectively.
Who will have the deeper team and more energy in their legs? We'll see on Sunday night as they wrap up Matchweek 12 in the National Futsal Premier League.
