NFPL Matchweek 8 Preview
Our teams return to the court for Matchweek 8 as we close out our February schedule, and what a big weekend we have ahead - 3 great games of futsal to look forward to. Starting on Friday night...
COLUMBUS FUTSAL (H) VS. GRAND RAPIDS OLÉ (A)
Our first game of the weekend features 7th-placed Columbus Futsal hosting the league leaders: Grand Rapids OLé. The last time these two teams met was in Matchweek 4, a grisly affair that ended in a 15-3 win for Grand Rapids. In their brand new home facility, Columbus will be looking to improve on that showing and secure the first win of their season. However, any team in the National Futsal Premier League can tell you: Grand Rapids won't make it easy.
Keep an eye on Columbus pivo Yul Illidge to continue his goalscoring streak - they'll need him and the rest of the squad to step up. For Grand Rapids, Jonathan Stout has been unrelenting this season and if Columbus are to secure any points they will need to have a plan to handle him.
Futsal Factory Academy (H) VS. Futsal Indy (A)
Futsal Factory Academy have had an excellent month, climbing up the table from 5th to 3rd after home wins against Columbus Futsal and Ginga FS. On the other hand, Futsal Indy have only played once this month: a 15-1 drubbing at the hands of Grand Rapids OLé in Matchweek 6.
Both teams need the win - will Futsal Factory Academy continue their run of good form? Or will the extra time off for Futsal Indy help them break their two game losing streak? With Robert Damron in goal, Futsal Factory will look to nullify the attacking threat of Dudu Oliviera.
gINGA fs (H) VS. cOLUMBUS fUTSAL (A)
The Battle for Ohio is in Cincinnati this weekend as Ginga FS host Columbus Futsal. Ginga FS are fresh off a narrow loss in Michigan to Futsal Factory Academy in Matchweek 7, while Columbus will be looking to bounce back or have a massive weekend following their Friday night home game against OLé.
Erik Hegerty continues to be a thorn in the side of opposing teams for Ginga FS, with Jorge Guinovart and Nick Rumisek frequently getting onto the scoresheet as well.
Best of luck to all of the players and managers in Matchweek 8! Follow along on our social media channels.
