Luis Gonzalez has been named the Southwest Player of the Week for Matchweek 4 after a decisive performance in New Mexico Flagship Futsal Academy’s 7–5 road win over Santa Fe Gloom.

Gonzalez delivered a standout two-goal, two-assist performance, playing a central role in one of the most competitive and entertaining matches of the season. His first contribution came early, providing a brilliant assist for the opening goal with a clever sole-roll flick to Axel Esparza, setting the tone in a fast-paced first half that ended level at 4–4.

Just under two minutes into the second half, Gonzalez made his mark again, scoring a crucial go-ahead goal with a ferocious half-volley after a perfectly weighted scooped assist from Luis Loera. That strike proved to be a turning point, giving Flagship early momentum in the second half. Moments later, Gonzalez shifted seamlessly into the role of provider, threading a dangerous pass across the face of goal for Christopher Santos to tap in unmarked at the back post.

With Santa Fe pushing late for an equalizer, Gonzalez delivered one final decisive moment. His alert defensive pressure and effort forced a turnover in the closing seconds, resulting in the ball rolling into the net to seal the victory for Flagship and cap a complete performance on both sides of the ball.

From creativity and finishing to awareness and work rate, Gonzalez’s influence was felt throughout the match, earning him Matchweek 4 Southwest Player of the Week honors.
