Matchweek 15 Review: Late Drama, Statement Wins, and a Strong Finish

Matchweek 15 Review: Late Drama, Statement Wins, and a Strong Finish

The final matchweek of the 2025/26 NFPL regular season delivered exactly what you’d expect — goals, drama, and a few defining performances as teams head into the postseason.

With playoff positions locked and momentum on the line, Matchweek 15 gave us a little bit of everything.

Midwest: Late Goals Seal Inter Detroit Win

Capital Futsal 6–7 Inter Detroit

An entertaining, back-and-forth contest saw Inter Detroit edge Capital Futsal in dramatic fashion.

Capital struck first, but Inter responded emphatically, racing into a 4–1 halftime lead behind a flurry of attacking quality.

One of the standout moments came from Edwin Gomez-Ruiz, who finished a stunning move assisted by goalkeeper Emerson Mena — controlling the ball brilliantly before flicking it over a defender and volleying home. A goal of the highest quality.

Inter continued to pile on before halftime, with powerful finishes from Mena and Liam Holloway, while Nate Boos added a penalty to extend the lead.

But Capital refused to go away.

Led by Jaret Fortuna-Gil (1 goal, 2 assists), Capital mounted an impressive comeback in the second half, leveling the match at 5–5 with just over a minute remaining.

That’s when Boos took over.

A second calmly taken penalty with 35 seconds left restored Inter’s lead, and moments later, Boos sealed the game — collecting a loose ball and finishing into an empty net from distance. Capital would add a late penalty, but the result was already decided.

A thrilling win for Inter Detroit heading into the playoffs.

Southwest: BRUSA Send a Message

BRUSA Futsal Club 12–4 Los Yunaites

After conceding early, BRUSA responded with authority — and never looked back.

Trailing 1–0 inside the opening minutes, BRUSA unleashed a 10-goal barrage, going into halftime with an 8–1 lead and completely taking control of the match.

The goals came in waves:

  • Breno Silva led the way with 3 goals
  • Yan Brandao added 2 goals and 1 assist
  • Pedro Lopez contributed 2 goals and 2 assists

The highlight reel was stacked — a clever backheel from Kaue Martins in the buildup to one goal, a delicate chipped finish from Silva, and a standout solo effort from Joey Fuller, who beat three defenders before finishing emphatically.

Fuller would go on to score 4 goals, including one just 30 seconds into the second half, capitalizing on a defensive mistake.

A dominant performance from BRUSA as they close out the regular season as the top team in the Southwest.

California: HBK Finish Strong

HBK Futsal 12–7 Bay Area Footy

With no video available, this one still delivered plenty of goals — and a strong statement from HBK.

HBK controlled the first half, building a 6–2 lead before the break and maintaining their advantage throughout.

Alexander Bedoya led the way with 4 goals, while Fredrik Solberg and Lee Mitchell each added 2 goals.

Bay Area fought back with contributions from Pema Globus and Wilfran Alberto, who each scored twice, but they were unable to close the gap.

A high-scoring win for HBK as they head into the postseason with momentum.

Matchweek 15 brought the regular season to a close — and set the stage for what promises to be an exciting playoff run.

Inter Detroit showed resilience and clutch finishing.
BRUSA reminded everyone why they sit atop the Southwest.
HBK closed strong in California.

Now, the focus shifts to the postseason — where everything resets, and every moment matters.
