Matchweek 14 Review: Inter Detroit Fight Back, Bay Area Surge in Statement Wins
Matchweek 14 delivered one of the most dramatic nights of the season, highlighted by a thrilling showdown between the top two teams in the Midwest.
With playoff positions nearly finalized, teams showed urgency, resilience, and quality across the board—none more so than in Detroit, where Inter and FFA played out an instant classic.
Inter Detroit 6–6 Futsal Factory Academy
Midwest Division
In one of the most exciting matches of the season, Inter Detroit and Futsal Factory Academy played to a dramatic 6–6 draw in a clash between the top two teams in the Midwest.
FFA came out sharp, opening the scoring just three minutes in as Thomas Dono volleyed home from distance. Inter responded quickly through Guillermo Garcia, but FFA regained the lead less than a minute later, with Abdisa Kabeto setting up Ben Pritchard for a back-post finish.
The first half continued at a relentless pace. Edwin Gomez-Ruiz produced a delicate chipped finish to level the match, only for Graham Unsworth to restore FFA’s lead after capitalizing on a defensive error. Dono then added his second with a long-range strike through traffic before Khalid Suleiman made it 5–2 just before halftime with a sharp finish from a tight angle.
At the break, FFA looked firmly in control—but the second half told a completely different story.
Inter roared back immediately, scoring within the first minute as Nate Boos finished from close range. Moments later, Boos turned provider, assisting Nikolai Zacharko to bring the game within one.
Then came one of the goals of the night, as Edwin Gomez-Ruiz spotted the goalkeeper off his line and chipped from half court, the ball striking the bar before dropping in to level the match.
Less than a minute later, Inter completed the turnaround, with Boos scoring again after being played through by Gomez-Ruiz to give the hosts a stunning 6–5 lead.
Inter held firm deep into the closing stages, but FFA continued to press with the goalkeeper pushed forward. Their persistence paid off in the final seconds, as Gui Ramos scored from close range—set up by Dono in the flying goalkeeper role—to rescue a point with under 15 seconds remaining.
A thrilling, end-to-end contest that showcased the quality and competitiveness at the top of the Midwest Division.
