Matchweek 12 Review: Big Results Across the NFPL
Matchweek 12 brought a busy schedule across the National Futsal Premier League, although several matches ultimately resulted in forfeits. Out of the seven scheduled games, three were played on the court while the remaining fixtures were awarded as forfeits.
Despite the reduced slate, the weekend still delivered major storylines, including a dramatic draw in the Southwest Division, a statement win from New Mexico Flagship FC, and a dominant performance from Inter Detroit in the Midwest.
Los Yunaites 6–6 Santa Fe Gloom
Southwest Division
One of the most entertaining matches of the weekend came in the Southwest Division, where Los Yunaites and Santa Fe Gloom played to a dramatic 6–6 draw.
Santa Fe carried a 5–3 lead into halftime, controlling much of the early portion of the match. However, the home side responded strongly in the second half, scoring three goals to take a 6–5 lead and put themselves in position for a comeback victory.
Santa Fe refused to go away, and with just under three minutes remaining they found the equalizer to rescue a point.
For Los Yunaites, new transfer Beckan Ovalles made an immediate impact with two goals, while Raul Araujo also scored twice. For Santa Fe, Santiago Duarte led the way with a hat trick in an attacking showcase from both teams.
New Mexico Flagship FC 9–0 BRUSA Futsal Club
Southwest Division
In one of the most surprising results of the season, New Mexico Flagship FC delivered a stunning 9–0 victory over BRUSA Futsal Club.
Not only was the result unexpected given BRUSA’s strong season, but the manner of the victory made it one of the most dominant performances of the year.
NMFS controlled the match from start to finish, with several key players continuing their excellent form. Christopher Santos led the attack with a hat trick, while captain Luis Loera contributed two goals and two assists. Jesus Guillen also played a major role, finishing with one goal and two assists.
The result represents a massive statement win for New Mexico Flagship FC and one of the biggest results of the Southwest Division season so far.
Inter Detroit 10–5 Capital Futsal
Midwest Division
Inter Detroit delivered a dominant performance in the Midwest Division, defeating Capital Futsal 10–5.
Inter took control early, building a 5–1 halftime lead after scoring the first three goals of the match before Capital could respond.
Capital suffered an early setback when starting goalkeeper Nya Htoo was injured in the opening minutes. Although he was able to walk off the court, he was unable to continue in the match.
Inter continued to apply pressure throughout the second half, extending their advantage while controlling the pace of the game. Two late Capital goals in the final minutes narrowed the final scoreline, but the result never appeared in doubt.
Several Inter players contributed offensively, with Silas Rustin leading the way with two goals and one assist. Mariano Barragan added two goals, while Luan Bressy recorded two goals and one assist. Captain Nate Boos also contributed with one goal and one assist in the convincing victory.
Futsal Factory Academy 4–0 MitWest FC (Forfeit)
Futsal Factory Academy were awarded a 4–0 victory by forfeit after MitWest FC were unable to field a team for their scheduled Midwest Division matchup.
The result keeps FFA firmly in control of the division as they continue their undefeated run this season.
HBK Futsal 4–0 Anthem Futsal (Forfeit)
HBK Futsal also collected three points by forfeit after Anthem Futsal were unable to play their scheduled California Division match.
The result helps HBK maintain their strong position near the top of the division standings.
ThreeSixty Sala 4–0 Bay Area Footy (Forfeit)
Both the men’s and women’s fixtures between ThreeSixty Sala and Bay Area Footy were awarded as 4–0 forfeits in favor of ThreeSixty.
