Matchweek 1 Review: Futsal Factory Academy Opens the Season in Style

The 2025/26 NFPL season got underway Saturday night in the Midwest Division as Futsal Factory Academy delivered a commanding opening performance against Inter Detroit at Saline High School.

From the opening whistle, FFA set the tempo. Just 30 seconds into the match, Ben Pritchard opened the scoring, sparking an early surge that saw the home side race out to a 5–0 lead within the first seven minutes. Goals from Graham Unsworth, Dom Dono, Lucas Yessayan, and Josh Jasinkiewicz followed in quick succession as FFA’s high press, physicality, and quick ball movement overwhelmed Inter Detroit.

Inter called an early timeout to regroup, but FFA continued to control possession and punish mistakes, extending the lead to 11–0 by halftime.

The second half brought moments of resilience from Inter Detroit, including a standout individual effort from Daniel Patino in the 26th minute. Patino danced past two defenders before calmly finishing past the goalkeeper to put Inter on the scoresheet. Later, captain Nate Boos added a second goal in the 37th minute, but the result was well out of reach.

Futsal Factory Academy showcased a polished and cohesive performance throughout, particularly on set pieces and in tight spaces. Their chemistry, quick passing, and coordinated pressing were on full display. Thomas Dono, the reigning 2024/25 NFPL Golden Ball winner, produced one of the night’s highlights by carrying the ball from his own defensive end the length of the court before finishing decisively. Graham Unsworth added two composed finishes into the far post, underlining FFA’s attacking efficiency.
