2025/26 Preseason Profile: Santa Fe Gloom Enters a New Era With Community at Its Core

Few teams in the National Futsal Premier League embody the spirit of their city quite like Santa Fe Gloom. As the club enters the 2025/26 NFPL season, they do so with a renewed identity, passionate local support, and leadership rooted deeply in New Mexico’s soccer history.
From the beginning, Santa Fe Gloom has positioned itself as more than just a futsal club. Every home match is free for fans, creating a true community atmosphere and allowing the team to grow alongside the people who fill the stands. The Gloom are built around local talent — players who proudly represent their hometown each time they step onto the court.
This season marks a major shift for the club with the arrival of Sergio Rivas — a legendary New Mexico United player — as the new General Manager. His leadership brings a professional foundation and a new vision for growth as the Gloom prepare to compete on the national stage.
“Can’t wait to see the Gloom and NFPL take futsal to the next level,” said owner David Fresquez.
Supporting Rivas is an experienced technical staff, including Head Coach Leandro “Brazil” Carlos and Assistant Coach Pat Schmittdiel Jr., who will guide a squad filled with local players committed to representing Santa Fe with pride, discipline, and passion.
Everything the Gloom does — from roster building to matchday culture — reflects the heart of Santa Fe. The club is woven into the fabric of the city, carrying its identity, energy, and creativity into every training session and match.
As excitement builds for the 2025/26 NFPL season, Santa Fe Gloom stands ready for a new era — fueled by community, guided by leadership, and inspired by the people they represent.
