2022/23 Matchweek 9 Preview

Five games to satisfy NFPL fans on Saturday, February 18th in Matchweek 9! Plus, we've got the Rising Stars event taking place on Sunday the 19th for the up-and-coming young futsal players to look forward to. 

WOMEN'S DIVISION:

Futsal Indy (H) vs. Columbus Futsal (A)

Both Futsal Indy and Columbus Futsal sit winless in the Women's Division, and both teams will see this match as an opportunity to get off the mark for the season. The Columbus Futsal Women will likely travel with enough depth to cause the Ladies of Futsal Indy some trouble, and we're looking forward to a competitive game here in Matchweek 9.

Men's Division:

Futsal Indy (H) vs. Columbus Futsal (A)

Despite the end result, a decent performance in Matchweek 8 may have given Futsal Indy some confidence heading into a home matchup against Columbus Futsal. However, Columbus are coming into this game undefeated in their last 3 and will present a challenging game for the home side who are still looking for that elusive first point of the season.

Joy Athletic (H) vs. Ginga Futsal (A)

Joy Athletic haven't played an NFPL match since January 21st, a 9-3 loss on the road to FC Tryzub. Back in action almost a month later, they'll face a hungry Ginga FS team that needs points desperately. Salvaging a draw or more on the road would be a massive, confidence-boosting result for them. However, they're going up against the 2021/22 runner-up on the road and will have a big job ahead of them.

FC Tryzub (H) vs. Cadence SFC (A)

In Matchweek 8, Cadence SFC went toe-to-toe with a quality Columbus Futsal Club and were narrowly beaten on the road before taking all 3 points in Cincinnati against Ginga FS. They'll have built some momentum from a successful weekend and now travel to the Midwest Conference leaders in FC Tryzub. 

FC Tryzub will be looking forward to taking the court once more in what has been a terrific season for them so far, especially after annihilating Futsal Factory Academy in Matchweek 8.

New Mexico Flagship FC (H) vs. San Diego Voyagers (A)

New Mexico Flagship FC will be hosting San Diego Voyagers in their NFPL home debut in what should be a great matchup. New Mexico Flagship played a tightly-contested match against Brusa FC in Matchweek 8, while the Voyagers enjoyed a win at home over CFA in Matchweek 7. 

This will be the two team's first meeting this month and we're looking forward to a competitive game between two sides that know there's everything to play for in the Southwest Conference.

Where Things Stand:

Some teams have begun to distance themselves from the chasing pack and will be looking to solidify their place in the coming NFPL Playoffs in the Midwest and Great Lakes conferences. The Southwest remains in its early stages, with playoff contention wide open. 

In the Women's Division, both Futsal Indy and Columbus Futsal will fight to determine who starts climbing the table at the other's expense.
