2022/23 ALL-NFPL MEN'S Second TEAM

It's a testament to the level of ability in the National Futsal Premier League this season that the players on the All-NFPL Men's Second Team didn't quite make the First Team. This is an incredibly talented and accomplished list of players that make up the Second Team.

Goalkeeper: Bojan Pejovic

Bojan Pejovic had a brilliant season for FC Tryzub, coming in second among goalkeepers in Man of the Match votes in the regular season and outshining his counterpart Miguel Cervantes in the 2022/23 NFPL Championship game, winning the MVP and Player of the Week. On top of that, he led the Midwestern Conference's best defense, allowing just 28 goals as they steamrolled their way to the playoffs and Championship game. His added contribution of 1 goal and 4 assists over the course of the season can't be forgotten either!

Fixo: Lito Esquivel

Lito Esquivel captained Grand Rapids OLé to an excellent regular season, a dominant playoff semifinal victory on the road over Columbus Futsal, and a Championship game appearance for the second season running. He led his team in total points and assists, ending the regular season with 8 goals and 5 assists and adding a further goal and assist in the playoffs.

Ala: Jorge Guinovart

A quiet start to the season ended in February as Jorge Guinovart exploded into life for Ginga FS, scoring 11 goals over the team's final 4 games in their push for a playoff spot. He led Ginga FS in goals with 11 and points with 19, finishing second on the team in assists with 8, and averaging 1.9 points per game.

Ala: Bennett Kouame

Last season's Golden Ball winner Bennett Kouame looked on pace to do the exact same this season for Joy Athletic until injuries prematurely ended his season. 11 goals in Joy Athletic's opening 4 games, as well as 7 assists, kept Kouame in the hunt for the individual NFPL awards until the end of the season. Despite missing the final 4 games of the season and playoffs, Kouame would finish 5th in the league in total points and 3rd in the league in goals scored.

Pivo: Davinson Diaz

Scorer of some incredible goals, it seemed like Davinson Diaz was in the Player of the Week and Goal of the Month conversation every time he hit the court. The Colorado Futsal Academy pivo scored 9 goals and assisted 3 in 6 games this season. averaging 2.0 points per game and leading his team in Man of the Match votes.

6th: Tiago Ramos

Another player whose season ended early due to an ankle injury, Tiago Ramos terrorized defenses in the first half of the season, scoring 6 and assisting 1 in the regular season for Columbus Futsal

Manager: Fabian Rodriguez

Falling just short of back-to-back trophies in the Championship game loss to FC Tryzub, Fabian Rodriguez still led Grand Rapids OLé to a fantastic season. Highlights include a league-best defense that only let in 26 goals and a Great Lakes Conference-leading offense that scored 58, as well as preparing his team to absolutely demolish Columbus Futsal on their own court in the NFPL Semifinal game.
