MATCHWEEK 14 REVIEW:
Santa Fe Gloom and Futsal Factory Academy into 2nd Place

Santa Fe Gloom 11-4 New Mexico Flagship FC

A statement victory for Santa Fe Gloom sees them go even with Colorado Futsal Academy at the top of the Southwest conference with just a few weeks remaining in the season as they trounced New Mexico Flagship FCin Matchweek 14.

The Gloom dominated from the jump, going into halftime with a 6-2 lead and nearly matching that performance to close out the game. Julian Bustamante netted a first-half hat trick and Peter Torres continued his great season, scoring the team's opening two goals within the first 5 minutes.

Despite two second-half goals to bring the game closer, The Gloom pulled ahead and shut out Flagship for the final 10 minutes of the game. The win puts The Gloom into second place, tied for first with Colorado Futsal Academy although they've played one more game.

Cadence SFC 3-5 Futsal Factory Academy

A win on the road for Futsal Factory Academy over Cadence SFC sees them jump into second place in the Midwest conference. It's a third win in a row for Futsal Factory Academy as they seem to be hitting a hot patch of form at the right time.

Cole Russell had a big game for the visitors, scoring 3 to go along with Drew Ducker's 2 assists. On the defensive side, they kept Edrick Padilla to a scoreless game, a rarity for one of the league's top goalscorers. Bryan Cortina stood out once again, adding a goal and an assist for the home side.

Despite being tied 3-3 at halftime, Futsal Factory Academy goalkeeper Robert Damron had a big game between the posts, scoring once in the first half, keeping a clean sheet in the second half, and pushing his team into second place in the Midwest.

A LOOK AT THE TABLE AFTER MATCHWEEK 14:

After a horrid start to the season, Futsal Factory Academy have turned it around and are in direct competition for a spot in the playoffs. They'll have to win all 3 of their remaining games to solidify it.

In the Southwest, it's a tale of two halves - the top, and the bottom. Despite the gap, it's not unassailable and both playoff spots remain up for grabs.
